International Women’s Day – 8th March
International Women’s Day this year focusses on the theme choose to challenge and asks that we celebrate and showcase the success of women.
And what better way for Love Oor Lang Toun to celebrate than to focus on Kirkcaldy women in business and the community.
We mean business
Did you know we have a high number of female-led businesses in our town?
Our dynamic female business owners in a variety of sectors are making positive things happen.
There’s nearly 50 of the town’s businesses run by women – and our Love Oor Lang Toun traders group on Facebook used the word “INSPIRATION” to describe them.
We couldn’t agree more.
Challenging the crisis
Read about just some of our inspirational women in business below.
Gold standard at Bliss
A global brand in a gold standard salon and one of the first in the country to have a dedicated Clarin’s micro site featuring a full range of products.
In Kirkcaldy thanks to Bliss Beauty.
Although the Bliss Beauty‘s Whytescauseway premises may be shut at the moment, online consultations, a vibrant social media community and delivering to the door of her customers has kept Christine Cunningham Smith busy through the COVID lockdown.
Hear her talk to K107fm’s John Murray here about the ways she’s been helping her customers through lockdown.
Looking ahead at Print It Stitch It
Kirsty Bremner is one of our town’s inspirational young women who runs her own business called Print It Stitch It.
Established in 2013 in the Indoor Market, Kirsty moved to 235 High Street 3 years ago, extending her lease and beginning a full refit recently.
For Kirsty, it was all about looking ahead to the future and making sure her customers get the best experience when they can return.
Rennovations in the shop have included walls coming down and new ones built, an extension to her workroom and a new viewing area for customers to peek behind the scenes.
Kirsty added: “We are embracing technology and working alongside Kaber Helm who have built us a brand new order management system and we’ve also reduced our environmental impact with less waste.
“Embracing technology is going to be key to us moving forward as a business. COVID-19 has put a hold on us opening a second premises until there is a bit more stability in the economy but it is something we are looking forward to.
“Undertaking the refit hasnt been a small task, but it will help the shop flow better and also give us a great background for some new digital content.
“We are looking forward to building more online content and branding through social media marketing.
“Our shop has had a bit of a facelift and our website will be next, giving our customers a better user experience.”
